3M™ DPL and DPC Duplicating Films from Imation™ are direct-positive films designed for duplication of radiographs using ultraviolet light. Do not use with white light or visible light sources. Imation™ DPL duplicating film is a blue base film and Imation™ DPC duplicating film is a clear base film. Both films are designed to record high quality images. An anti-halation backing provides sharp images by virtually eliminating light scatter. The blue and clear bases provide excellent diagnostic clarity.

Duplicate radiographs made with DPL or DPC duplicating film and processed using ultraviolet light provided by BLB designated fluorescent lamps require exposure times of six to eight seconds. Exposure times can vary depending on the duplicator used. Increasing the exposure time decreases the density of the duplicate, because DPL and DPC duplicating films are direct-positive films.

Note:
The DPL and DPC duplicating films sensitometric curve was obtained by exposing to ultraviolet light provided by BLB designated fluorescent lamps and processed in a standard 90-second processor, with DuPont XMD chemistry at 92°F.

Processing

A high degree of processing latitude is available with DPL and DPC duplicating films in various chemistries and rapid processors. DPL and DPC duplicating films will provide consistent radiographic image quality under a wide variety of processing conditions. Your local Imation sales representative may offer recommendations on processing conditions which will yield optimum results with your chemistry and processor.

Darkroom Handling

DPL and DPC duplicating films must be handled in a darkroom under suitable safelight conditions. Use of a 15 watt bulb with safelight filter placed no closer than 48 inches from film area is recommended. Suitable safelight filters include the 3M Bubblite, the Kodak® GBX-II, or Wratten® 1A filters.

Storage

DPL and DPC duplicating films must be protected from radiation and chemical fumes and must be stored in a cool, dry place. Recommended storage conditions: 40°F to 75°F (5°C to 25°C) and a relative humidity ranging from 40 to 60%.
